Try to say your 10 digit phone number out loud. You'll probably space it out in gaps of 5 and 5, or 4 and 3 and 3. Rarely will you see anyone telling their phone number as 9 65 12345 22. Ever wondered why? I don't think so. We rarely contemplate over trivial things. If you're thinking about it now, let me give you a clue. Sing it out! Its music! Whenever i try to think about gaps, i try to either even them out or give them some kind of pattern. Any vocal pattern always comes about as some kind of beat. So if its a 5 and 5 combo, if you sing it out it will make sense to you. Go ahead. Try it out!

...
The point of being an introvert is to hide. Hiding does not necessary imply not speaking. You can speak a lot, reach out a lot, talk a lot, and yet feel like the most alien person. But i guess that it's okay. People don't have to be alike, and everyone doesn't need to be a people person.
What does affect you is the possibility of losing out on opportunities. Life is such, that chances are plenty. You'll have plenty of things coming your way. Some will be pick up and ride. For others, you'll have to take plenty of turns. Being socially apathetic or callous hampers you in ways that always strike you in hindsight. And it's these chances not taken, or opportunities lost that hurt the most. You'll always regret not studying for that one exam, or not going for water-sports with your friends cause you chose to chicken out. But when opportunities are due to your social failings, such as failure to keep in touch with people that actually matter, or not trying enough for someone who touched you(hypothetically) in ways you never felt before, it will smite the absolute depths of your happiness.
How one tackles these moments, is what defines how your life will turn out. Its not where you go, how much you earn, where you live, how many cars you own, but how you chose to tackle your biggest failings, that will define if you will actually be happy. If you find yourself living at cuffe parade owning a merc, but without knowledge of who to meet in the evening, or not having that one person you can call any time when you need someone, you've lived a sad life. And that, i fear above anything else(which is huge considering the list of things i fear).
